M&M Meat Shops has an in-house development, real estate and research team. We use a combination of
Geographic Information System (GIS) software and market-solution software to help analyze potential markets.
Utilizing this information, our GIS Analysts assess the viability of a market and the impact that the new store
will have on existing stores. We also verify that a suitable location can be found.
There are several criteria we consider when determining a new store location.
- Market: 25,000 for a standard store; 10,000 for an M&M Meat Shops SELECT® store.
- Demographics: Is there a high enough percentage of the types of households we know to be M&M Meat Shops customers in the trade area.
- Impact on sales at existing locations: We are able to determine the first two factors very accurately because our MAX loyalty program has a 97% capture rate. Because of the impact on sales of existing stores, new opportunities are typically offered to existing Franchisees first.
Our locations range in size from 1200 to 1400 square feet for a standard M&M Meat Shops and approximately
900 to 1100 square feet for an M&M Meat Shop Select. In addition, signage, co-tenants and plaza location are crucial.
