Advantages of Re-franchise Opportunities

As a mature franchisor we have fewer new stores to open. Thus one of the easier ways to get into an M&M Meat Shops franchise is to purchase an existing store, also known as a refranchise. and also franchisees that have been in the chain for many years. Refranchising is a healthy process that offers the opportunity to bring new enthusiastic Franchisees into the system. Existing Franchisees decide to refranchise their stores for a variety of reasons: retirement, divorce, illness, lifestyle change etc. Re-franchises are opportunities to obtain an established business with known revenue and expenses. We will also discuss operational strengths of the store as well as opportunities to grow the business in the community. Re-franchise opportunities can be more or less the cost of a new store depending on a variety of factors: asset or share purchase, sales history, required renovations, etc.

In addition to the purchase price, there is approximately $60,000 paid by the purchaser for:

  • Inventory
  • Training
  • Transfer fee
  • Legal fees
  • Cash on hand to run the business

Candidates must indicate that they have 50% of the total cost of the store available to them in unencumbered funds.

The re-franchise process, or the time it takes to transfer a store, takes from eight to twelve weeks from the time a purchase agreement is in place. This allows sufficient time for financing to be arranged and training to be completed.
